Voice guy: Net Quiddler with Will Morris. New on VBS!
("CBS Evening
News" teaser/bulletin music plays)
Voice guy: This is a VBS News special report. Here is Dan
Rathernot.
Dan: Good day, from VBS
News world headquarters in New York. Net Bumper Stumpers enters a
new chapter -- but with a different author. Doug Morris announced
just recently the last episode of NBS *really was* the last
episode -- at least under his watch. Morris cited real world
concerns -- but noted he's still in the cast of the long-running
Net Price is Right and the Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares
Hour. As for NBS, he's about ready to pass the baton to a new
host. A host we don't know yet. We now take you live to Studio 63
at Trax Productions -- where Doug and his longtime producer D.J.
Hamilton brought us NBS. (cue to shot of Doug walking up to the
podium) He's about to tell us who the new host of NBS will be.
Doug: (positions microphone) Hellooooo everybody. (reporters and
photographers around the studio laugh and clap) Boy, it must be a
slow news day with all of you here. (more laughter from the
press)
Well... before I make my
announcement, let me say that ending production on Net Bumper
Stumpers was not an easy decision. After all, I had lots of
resources and help from some great folks. So, it wasn't an issue
of the well running dry.
As I noted on *our* final NBS show, the reason we've ceased
production is a matter of time. It takes at least an hour to
prepare all the graphics, make sure all the side games are ready,
etc. etc. As for running the game, I basically have to make sure
I'm home in time to start the next round or phase of the show at
the right time. And with me possibly being on the road a lot for
the radio stations I work for, the time to run the game has
evaporated.
So with that, it was time to let NBS go while it was still on
top. I'll still have time to remain in the net games world --
sticking around for Net Price is Right and the Net Match Game -
Hollywood Squares Hour. And, we're also working on Net ShowDown,
a game loosely based on "The Big ShowDown".
But, to help make sure NBS is still a hit, I pass the baton to a
fellow net game host on VBS. He's someone who knows a thing or
two about Barry & Enright *and* net game graphics. Those are
two *key* things I felt the next NBS host should bring to the
game. He's building a new website and I'm sure NBS will make a
lovely addition to his internet world.
Please join me in welcoming your new host for Net Bumper
Stumpers.... Mr. Robert Rosko!
(reporters and photographers applaud as Robert walks to the
podium with Doug... they shake hands and smile for pictures)
Doug: (reacting to all the flash bulbs and humming a few bars of
a Manfred Mann song) Blinded by the light. (journalists laugh)
(Robert takes the mic)
Robert: Thank you, thank
you. I'd first like to thank Trax Productions for giving me the
keys to this excellent netgame. Um, I'd also like to say that
along with a new host come some new changes to the game. Although
the game play will remain close to Doug's version, some changes
will be made regarding Audience Games, uh... some new rounds
during the main game, and some others here and there. I think
you'll like it. Also, our set designers have done an excellent
job at replicating the old NBS set and giving it the right NBS
feel. No worries Doug, we didn't steal your studio. :) Once
again, I'd like to thank Doug for giving me the honor of taking
over the game, and thanks to all of you who have made the game
such a huge success. Thanks!
Dan: So, Robert Rosko -- host of Net Hot Potato and the Net
Joker's Wild - Card Sharks Hour -- can now add Net Bumper
Stumpers to his hosting résumé. There will be more details on
this story on this VBS station and on the VBS Evening News. Dan
Rathernot reporting.
